BASIC BUTTON SHIRT:
Start by choosing the button down shirt that fits you the best. Keeping your shirt buttoned, lay the shirt front side up on a flat surface making sure to fatten out any wrinkles. Ensure the tape is straight and not twisted when measuring.
*Note: Woven Button Up/Down Shirts give more accurate measurements*
**Keep the shirt flat for an accurate measurement . Round to the nearest whole number**
1.Neck: With measuring tape or a string, align the starting point parallel to the top button at the connecting seam. Wrap around the neck seam(under collar) back to the starting point.
2. Shoulder Width: Fold the collar in half to reveal the center point . Starting here measure to the end of the shoulder seam connecting the sleeve to the body. (Can be taken from the back with collar up)
3. Sleeve Length: Measure from the shoulder seam to the connecting seam of the cuff.
4. Shoulder point to Shoulder point: Start from the shoulder seam measure across the collar to the opposite shoulder seam.
5. Armhole Width: While keeping the shirt flat, measure along the shoulder seam up to the flattened fold of the sleeve.
6. Across Chest: Start from underneath the arm at the seam, measure horizontally across the center front to the opposite under arm seam.
7. High Point Shoulder to Hem: Start at the highest point near the neckline, measure vertically down to the bottom edge.
8. Width at Hem: With the shirt buttoned closed, measure the width from left to right at the bottom.
The measurements taken from a button down shirt are unisex and fit differently based on the shirt style. Boxy shirt measurements will be larger while fitted tops are more narrow.
